Tank Tour of Jacques Littlefield's Tank Collection 2006 Once again, our Tour Coordinator Matthew Mintz, was able to arrange a tour for us at the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation on October 7th, 2006. This was a tour that was open to our Society for Aviation History members only, and filled quickly (a benefit of being a member). Littlefield's private collection is located in Portola Valley CA on 500 acres of land, the largest privaely owned parcel in the area. Our tour guide was Michael Green, and he knew these vehicles quite well. Although the entire collection consists of 130 tanks and and 70 other tracked vehicles, the four display buildings do not include them all, as many are still in the process of being restored, such as a WWII Panther we got to see in the restoration shop. These pictures compliment the pictures I posted from our groups 2004 visit, and are linked at the bottom of this page. I'm not versed in these ground bound types of vehicles, so information on them is brief, mostly from what was labeled on these vehicles. And yes, many of these vehicles relate to aircraft, as they were built as anti-aircraft weapons. There is text attached to all but one of the photographs. All photographs (digital - Canon 30D) were taken by Roger Cain (SAH 2). These photographs posted on 10-10-06 |
