6th Annual Vertical Challenge Helicopter Air Show
Obviously the Hiller Aviation Museum is doing something right, as they have now held their 6th annual successful air show. Located at the San Carlos Airport, this was a single day event, with two split air shows, held on Saturday June 18, 2005. Considering the military operations that are currently taking place overseas, the museum received excellent support from the militay for their show. While the military aircraft didn't fly in the show, with the exception of the US Coast Guard Dolphin from SFO, the show was flown entirely by civilian acts and demonstrations. This years theme was "A Tribute to Vietnam Helicopters" and this closing portion of the show was flown by a Piasecki H-21, two Hueys, a Bell 47G, a Hughes OH-6, and close to a dozen military re-enactors, with Pyrotechnics lighting off in the background. The volunteers at the museum did an excellent job at holding a very well organized show along with speaker forums and museum tours.
