President's Message for September 2014
It's hard to believe that we are already at summer's end, with vacations over, kids back in school, and days growing shorter. But there is a silver lining to the arrival of fall: Our official SAH activities start up again! It will be a pleasure to see all of you at our last two meetings of the year and to hear about your summer adventures.
Summer Newsletter Thanks to Betty Veronico
I'm sure you all enjoyed this year's special summer newsletter edition with its color cover and the contributions from our members. Here's a huge thank you to our newsletter editor, Betty Veronico, for putting together this and all of our other editions.'
Canned Food Drive at our October Meeting
We will once again be collecting canned food at our October Meeting for donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank. In addition to canned goods, you may contribute non-perishable dry foods such as pasta and cereal. Checks made payable to Second Harvest Food Bank are also accepted. The SAH has a lot to be thankful for, and our group has given many hundreds of pounds of food in the past. Let's keep the tradition going!
Special Speaker for October!
For years we've tried to book our next speaker, but he's been busy at every meeting - booking other speakers for our group! Through an evolving set of circumstances we can now proudly say that our own Nick Veronico is going to present on Oct. 4. He'll be talking about his widely acclaimed Hidden Warbirds series of books and showing some fantastic images. If you've already got a copy, bring it to get signed, or books will be available at the meeting.
Toys for Teens at our December Meeting
Another opportunity to feel the spirit of giving this season is the Toys for Teens drive at our December 4th holiday meeting. We choose gifts for teenagers because they are a traditionally underserved group of youth for donations. As always, your generosity and thoughtfulness will be appreciated.
See you at our October 4th meeting!
