Presidents Message for November 2013
It's hard to believe that the next meeting will be our holiday event on December 7 - another year is flying by! I hope you have all had a wonderful, aviation-filled few months. There were many events throughout Northern California as well as the 50th Annual National Championship Reno Air Races. Don't forget to share your experiences with us by a photo or an article in the newsletter - just get in touch with our Newsletter Editor, Betty Veronico.
If it has been awhile since you have visited our website, I encourage you to take a fresh look! Roger Cain does a stellar job as our webmaster and you will find a wealth of aviation photographs and resources. We have meeting photos and write-ups dating back to 2001 so you can revisit your favorites or see the ones you missed. The "Member Photos" section features a stunning number of historic photos from Bill Larkins, over a decade of airshow photos by Roger Cain, and wonderful photo collections from other members. The "Aviation Links" are well worth a look, too, with member websites, aircraft types, Bay Area museums, research sites, and more. The days are getting shorter and it's getting colder, a perfect time to settle down with your computer to take a look around our website - prepare to be impressed by the talents of our members!
Elections for 2014 Board of Directors
Curious about what goes on behind the scenes of the SAH? Interested in getting a bit more involved in our organization? We'd love to have you put your name in for the 2014 Board. It's a great way to better get to know your fellow members and to have your ideas and opinions heard in advancing our organization. It's not hard work or a big time commitment, and it is rewarding to participate on the Board. If you are interested, please contact any of us current Board members soon to learn more. And keep an eye out for your election ballot which will be sent to you soon. Your ballot must be returned to the SAH separately from your membership renewal and meeting registration.December Meeting: Both the Canned Food and Teen Toy Drives
Here's your chance to put yourself in the holiday mood: Contribute a toy and some canned food at our December meeting! We will be collecting for both our Teen Toy Drive and our Canned Food Drive on December 7. We would appreciate your bringing an unwrapped toy for a teen of any age, and/or nonperishable food contributions (it doesn't have to be in a can, as boxes of rice and pasta, etc. are welcome, too) for the food drive. Together, we can bring a caring spirit and holiday cheer to those who really need it this time of year.
See you on December 7th!
- Alice Hendricks
