Presidents Message for January 2013
Happy New Year, everyone - I hope your holidays were merry and bright! As we turn the corner of the year, we have a lot to look forward to at our 2013 meetings with speakers brought in by our Program Director extraordinaire, Nick Veronico. I hope the momentum of tours we had last year will continue into 2013. We value the input of our members and are always happy to hear your ideas for SAH activities.
We were so fortunate to have Capt. Les Williams, Tuskegee Airman, speak at our December meeting, especially since he had taken a fall earlier in the week and his attendance had been in question. He not only came with his wife of 67 years, Elsie, but he was able to stand at the podium for his entire talk. This was one of the very few times I have seen a spontaneous standing ovation for one of our speakers! While Mr. Williams had brought only a few books for sale, we were promised additional copies for those who are interested, hopefully by our February meeting.
December was our election meeting, and your 2013 Board of Directors are Vice President Rick Turner, Secretary Vallerie Kilkenny-Jukes, Treasurer Dan Morgan, and Directors Roger Cain (website, photographer, videographer, and newsletter), Norm Jukes (past president), Betty Veronico (Newsletter Editor), Nick Veronico (Program Director), and our new Director, Byron May. I am honored to continue as President in the coming year. Your Board members' phone numbers are listed with our names in the box on this page, and you are welcome to contact us directly with any questions, concerns or contributions.
A big thank-you to our continuing Committee Chairs as well: Lee Scales (Donations and Prizes), Bill Stubkjaer (Trivia), Amjad Noorani (Membership), Andy Melomet (Video), and Bruce Bengtson (Elections).
Toys for Teens Drive
We collected a large number of toys for teens at our December meeting for donation prior to the holidays. Our appreciation to all of you who helped make Christmas brighter for so many young people this year.2013 Dues
It's time to send in your dues for the next year of SAH newsletters, website access, and connection with your fellow members. We are an all volunteer organization, and your $25 helps to fund things like newsletter printing and postage, website fees, our post office box, office supplies, etc.
