Presidents Message for November, 2011
It's November already - how did that happen? Here we are in the fourth quarter of the year, where I believe time becomes compressed and things move very quickly. Amid the business of the season, we can all look forward to our annual holiday and election meeting on December 3.
A big thank you to our own Andy Melomet for his presentation on the "Twilight Zone" aviation episodes and the interesting information about Rod Serling. See the meeting write-up inside.
Change in Venue for Holiday Meeting
As we were unable to reserve a meeting room this year in Foster City, we will instead hold our December 3 holiday meeting in Burlingame on Airport Boulevard just south of SFO. You will see directions in the meeting sign-up notes. Prices have gone up since last year, but in the interest of keeping costs as reasonable as possible for our members, the SAH will subsidize a portion of the luncheon. The member cost will be $35 and non-members will pay $42.
Toys for Teens Drive
At our holiday meeting, we will be collecting unwrapped gifts for donation to less fortunate teenagers. These can be for a boy or a girl of any teenage year. Thanks in advance for your contributions!
Betty Veronico has taken over from Rick Pisio as our newsletter editor, and we would like to thank both Betty and Rick for handling this assignment.
After review of the newsletter printing and mailing costs at our last Board Meeting, the Board voted to return to our original format of five 12-page newsletters and one special summer edition with a color cover. This means you will no longer have to be on the lookout for meeting announcement postcards, as all meeting information will be in the newsletters as before.
Do you have museum visits, photos, or other aviation news to share? We would love to have your contribution to the newsletter - just contact Betty.
Details of our meetings are always available online at www.sfahistory.org. Roger Cain does a wonderful job keeping our website up to date.
Remember your 2012 dues are due on January 1, and a membership makes a great gift.
See you in December, and remember to bring a friend!
- Alice Hendricks
