President's Message for Jan./Feb. 2017
Those of us in attendance at the December meeting were blown away by Dave Trojan's presentation detailing the December 7, 1941, Japanese attack on the Naval Air Station Kaneohe Bay. Trojan's depth of research showed during his presentation with 99 percent of the photos never having been seen before. If you missed this presentation, I encourage you to borrow the meeting video (free to members!).
The December Teen Toy Drive followed our successful canned food collection at the October meeting. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and makes a difference each year.
December's outstanding meeting wrapped up with member Tom Johnson's (SAH 135) guided hike to concrete navigational arrows on Acalanes Ridge. We'd tried to make this group hike in the past but were weathered out. Conditions could not have been better in December. Thanks, Tom!
Looking back on 2016, we’ve had five fantastic, educational meetings, a number of fun tours, and a slew of great newsletters – all through the generosity of our guest speakers and our members. Participation in these events by our members is what makes this such a fun organization. And speaking of generosity, a number of members have, behind the scenes, given generous cash donations to the society. Thank you all!
December is also time for our annual meeting, which means elections for the board of directors. We say thank you to Vallarie Kilkenny-Jukes for her years of service as society secretary as she and past president Norm Jukes plan to travel extensively in 2017. Your board of directors for 2017 will be as follows:
President - Nick Veronico Vice President - Rick Turner Secretary - Betty Veronico Treasurer - Dan Morgan Directors at large: Roger Cain, Byron May, Ron Close, Ron Strong, Mike Stein

Calendar year 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of the Society for Aviation History. We've had a fantastic decade of great educational meetings, tours, and newsletters. I encourage you to visit our excellent website and review the last 10 years of meetings at: www.sfahistory.org/speakers.htm
