President's Message for Nov./Dec. 2015
As another successful year comes to a close for the Society for Aviation History, we have a number of events that have become routine.
The October meeting's Fall Canned food drive raised more than 125 pounds of canned goods and a number of generous cash donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
At our December meeting we will once again host our Teen Toy Drive. Teens are the most forgotten group when it comes to the holidays, so we ask that you bring an unwrapped gift appropriate for a youth aged 13 to 17.
As a group we are fortunate to be able to give, and your participation is greatly appreciated.
We've had a slate of fantastic speakers and December brings us Dan Whitney, author of Vees for Victory! The Story of the Allison V-1710 Aircraft Engine (1929-1948). Whitney is one of, if not the Allison engine expert and he'll discuss the engine's history at our December meeting.
Also, as a reminder, please do not bring alcohol to the meetings without checking with the program director first. Each venue has different liability insurance requirements surrounding the serving and/or consumption of alcohol.
When you're shopping for gifts this holiday season, please remember that membership in the Society for Aviation History is a gift that lasts all year long.Thank you for your membership and your continued support of our educational and history goals. Best wishes to you and your family for a safe and healthy 2016.
