EAA Golden West Regional Fly-In Held during the weekend of June 3-5 2005, the EAA Golden West Regional Fly-In attracted experimental, homebuilts, and kit planes to the Yuba County Airport in Marysville CA, which I visited on Saturday and Sunday. A full air show was flown on both days along with a Navy Legacy Flight with a Hawker Sea Fury and an F/A-18F Hornet. This was followed by a tactical demonstration by the Hornet. Operating on a smaller scale of the EAA's successful Air Venture in Oshkosh Wisc., there were close to 100 forums and seminars, along with nearly 70 exhibitors. On Saturday the ramp was packed with the aircraft types mentioned above, unfortunately, there wasn't an antique airplane to be found on the field as they were all south at the Merced Fly-In, that I had visited the day before. On Sunday during their departure, I was given the rare opportunity to photograph the Collings Foundation's B-17 and B-24 together in formation as they relocated to Chico for the next part of their tour. Special thanks to Jimmy Rollison for the use of his twin Beech and Jerry Anderson for his skilled formation flying with the bombers off of our right wing.
